FAQs
-
Acupuncture has roots in Chinese medicine to treat many conditions and relieve pain. A licensed practitioner places hair-thin sterile needles at different pressure points of the body to release tension. Typically, the needles will stay in place for 20–60 minutes, although this will vary depending on the procedure. Your provider will tailor a treatment plan to your needs and goals.
Acupuncture is a complementary therapy and should not take the place of doctor-recommended treatments. Before undergoing acupuncture to treat chronic pain or other conditions, a person should seek advice from a primary care physician.

The experience of having acupuncture is different for everyone. It is most commonly described as quite pleasant and relaxing. Once the needles are in, you will lay on the table with low lighting, calming spa type music playing. Typically some aromatherapy is also incorporated into the process. You will leave feeling relaxed and enjoy what has become known as an “AcuNap” - falling into a deep sleep for 20 minutes or so waking feeling refreshed.

The number of treatments a person will need depends on the condition being treated. Someone with a chronic condition may need one or two treatments per week over several months. An acute health issue typically improves after 8–12 sessions.
